After seeing Ash's post below it reminds me I've got a paint project coming up. Sometime last year I purchased a 1962 Spitfire to renovate and have been slowly chugging along on it. I'm now at the point of getting it painted and was wondering what the preferred method is of removing all the paint down to the metal is before I take it in to the pros to have painted. My preference would be to use an air powered DA Sander which shouldn't take more than a weekend to completely strip the thing. Anyone have any experience with this that could chime in? I'm assuming using a DA to do the whole thing and stepping up in grit as more material is removed would help avoid digging into the underlying metal. Any comments/advice is appreciated.
